Boston Children’s 2021 Virtual Walk Fundraiser!

Summer is approaching and after the last year we have had I think we all are needing something fun and uplifting! Going outside, to the store, to the doctor, everything was different but emergencies still took place. Doctors, nurses, front line workers still needed to work and a global pandemic doesn’t stop those who put their life on the line.

Our family was directly impacted by those who work tirelessly. Our youngest Emerson was born November 10, 2019. He was born with pharyngomalacia, laryngomalacia and dysphagia- just fancy words for a floppy pharnyx and larynx and difficulty swallowing. Continue reading

We See You – NICU Mom, Special Needs Mom, & Medical Mom

My passion has always been to help just one mom who feels like she is drowning in her baby’s diagnosis. If you have been here you know I am an open book about our childrens’ diagnosis and our very crazy complexed life. Two babies both had NICU stays, surgeries at 2 weeks old born with the same but a little different malformations and now navigating through the g-tube life.

Fast forward to this year where I met Sara another Instagram medical momma. A mom who spent countless days in the NICU with her youngest who was a preemie, with a diagnosis of Down syndrome.

She is an incredible mom, she beast modes it- works out daily (which I need to get on that band wagon). She originally reached out to encourage me, to uplift me to give me a virtual hug. I remember sitting in the car as we were waiting to go into Boston Children’s Hospital for Emerson first appointment there listening to her and holding back tears. Then it got me thinking about how amazing this momma is and how hard she works for not only herself and her family but for others.

Plume Science- By Far The Best Lash Serum!

After I delivered Emerson I had some crazy lash fall out. The crazy thing was the same thing happened after I had my first, Jace. I didn’t know much about lash serums and I just bought a random one on amazon that had decent reviews.

I started using it and my eyes were so itchy all the time, I also had little bumps appearing around my lash line. My lashes were long and growing back but my eyes were red, blotchy, and watered constantly. It wasn’t worth it to me to keep using it because I was worried about putting whatever junk was in that near my eyes.

Fast forward a few years and another baby and there went my lashes again. I researched all I could about safe and clean lash serums. I follow a beauty blogger Organic Bunny on IG who researches tons of beauty products and she puts her top favorites on her website. When I searched Lash serum Plume came up. I instantly bought it!

I have been using this lash serum for almost four months and have had amazing results without all the bad side effects! I noticed a difference within the first week or two of using Plume’s Lash Serum and now I can’t get enough. I apply once a day at night right along my lash line, its now apart of my nightly routine.

Boston Children’s Virtual Game Night

As most of you know our children were born with airway malformations. In the last four years we have seen countless doctors and specialists. Our boys have needed multiple surgeries in order to thrive and survive. We have had multiple therapies and continue to have them. Now more than ever I am so thankful to know the doctors, nursers and caregivers we know. They have become part of our family.

During this pandemic when your child needs machines in order to live you tend to have a bigger appreciation for those who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Those who have developed medical equipment, medications and so much more in order to save and help the lives of others. I want to personally say thank you, without you our 5 month old would not be able to eat. Without you our oldest child would still be fighting for his life.

You all know we love Boston Children’s Hospital and will always support them just like they have continuously supported us! They are hosting a big game night, the biggest virtual game night in New England this Friday,  April 17th! Here are the steps to get signed up and join us! Step one- Click here and that’s it! Can’t wait to see you all there!

Ten Tips For Successful Potty Training

Potty training, the two words every parent cringes at. I am a mom to an almost three-year-old that has been potty trained for about four months now. I don’t claim to know everything that can be known about potty training. I am not an expert, but I’ve had my fair share of potty training days before I had my son.

For five years before I became pregnant my job was to educate little minds. In those years not only did I enjoy loving and teaching each child; I have also learned a few tips and tricks that helped me potty train, my own little man. Continue reading

Our Journey With Laryngomalacia – Part Two

The night we brought our three-day-old baby to the emergency room was the darkest night of our lives. Jacob and I sat together, crying, wondering what we did to cause this to our baby. The drive to the hospital was somber—Jacob and I both silently wiping our tears while we listened to Jace breathing (squeaking) away.

When we arrived at the emergency room of the children’s hospital, they instantly took us back into a room to keep Jace away from airborne illnesses. Our pediatrician had called the hospital to let them know that we would be arriving with a newborn. Continue reading

What I Learned From Not Washing My Hair For Seventeen Days

You’re probably wondering why anybody in their right mind would choose to go 17 whole days without washing their hair. First, let’s get this off the table I care profoundly about hygiene, and I know it may seem a bit backwards. But if you stick with me, I will tell you how I learned that going longer between washes is better for you.

There is this beauty that I follow, her hair is like Rapunzel’s hair, and no she doesn’t wear extensions she is just naturally that beautiful.  Her name is Jasmine I shared a little more about her in my hair blog post. She recently did a thing- she went 33 days between washes. Her goal was to talk about proper scalp treatment during those days.
